The figure week 3

Tuesday:
In the first half of the day we painted over one of our tonal ink drawings from the previous week using acrylic paints brown, white and primary colours. In the second half of the day we continued working on our wire heads from the previous week and I have begun to add facial features.

Wednesday:
In textiles we experimented with felt making using objects to create 3D creations by wrapping the felt around the objects.

In graphics we continued working on our selfportraits experimenting with ideas, evidence can be found here

and in Art History we watched a documentary on Vincent Van Gogh and made notes on him

Friday:
Mark wasn't in so we didn't do lifedrawing and instead with Kim we produced our tile for drypoint printing by scratching into clear plastic over our drawn designs.
In Photography we experimented with creating panoramic images on photoshop and layering our photographs over each other. We then went out to take some more Photographs around town.

The figure week 2

Tuesday:
We worked on our portrait drawings by adding ink over them to create tone.

In 3D we created wire heads based off of our own head shapes.

Wednesday:
In textiles I continued pushing the felt into the materials and created an eye as part of the figure topic.

In graphics we experimented on our portrait scans, evidence can be found here. http://luketomlinsonl3adgraphicsportraits.blogspot.co.uk/
In art history we learnt about The Fauves and their art movement

Friday:
In printmaking we researched drypoint printing and produced some designs working from our self-portrait photocopies.

In the afternoon for photography we took photos around town to learn to use the cameras and then put the images onto the computers.

Back to college, The Figure week 1

After a long, weird half term I'm back at college and this time we're working on the figure.
Here's what I got up to last week.

Tuesday:
In the morning in visual studies we practiced doing self portraits using mirrors and trying to work with proportions using a measuring stick. We were then told to research some artists who work in portraits and to experiment with various media on photocopies of our self portraits.

Then in the afternoon we worked with welding metal and began trying to create facial features out of wire.

Wednesday:
In textiles in the morning, we learnt how to make felt using wool and I created a sheet of patterned felt. Then I moved to the other room to have a go at pushing the felt into material.

In graphics we started a new qualification project in which we are going to design the cover to our autobiographies, and we started this week by researching portrait artists and posted the research on a new blog, found here http://luketomlinsonl3adgraphicsportraits.blogspot.co.uk/

Then in Art History we created informative posters about the creative industry

Friday:
To ease us into life drawing we produced a facial portrait of our life model and likewise with the self portraits had to work with measuring sticks to keep the figure in proportion, something I found difficult and I need to practice more.

In the afternoon for Photography we have begun work on our Townscape project and started by researching Townscape artists and Double Exposure artists, then we had a go at creating Double Exposure images ourselves in Photoshop using layers.
