4th post

Tuesday:
First half of the day we were drawing natural forms with Mark working with shells and stones and experimenting with pen and ink media. In the afternoon we continued to work on our 3D bird skulls and got a second white coating painted on mine.

Wednesday:
Begun the day in textiles where I continued to work on my test weave and managed to get it completed and it just needs removing from the board. In the afternoon we had graphics with Mandy and learnt about cropping and resizing an image on Photoshop. After graphics we had art history where we finished looking at what makes up artwork and begun looking at other artists and artwork

Although not part of my college work, I also worked on this 3 hour charcoal drawing Sunday night and Monday morning. enjoy :)
Friday:
In the morning we began to work on linoprints by engraving our designs onto the lino. When the designs were finished we created our backgrounds with ink. For the afternoon we visited the media department to try produce a music video. We got to use the cameras and cutting and fading camera shots.

3rd post

Tuesday we started the day doing still life drawings with Mark focusing on tone, line and negative space and later in the afternoon we continued to work on our 3D bird skulls. I got the structure completed and begun painting it white.

Wednesday we went on the Liverpool trip and visited the Walker gallery and the Tate museum. I preferred the Tate because I felt the paintings and sculptures were of a higher quality compared to the Walker gallery.

Friday we started doing more still life drawings with Mark in the exhibition space and we used conte crayon and using line to add tone. Later in the afternoon we did photography and were introduced to Photoshop so we could touch up the photographs we took the previous week.

2nd post, now in colour

3D Bird Skull
Textiles sample
Bird Skull drawings.
So I ended the last blog during Graphics so I'll pick up what happened for the rest of the week.
After successfully setting up my blog, I had art history next where we learned the correct terminology for art technique such as Shade (adding black to a colour) and Tint (adding white) along with some quick info on research.

Friday we started the day in printmaking where we sketched areas of our still life set up that we would be using in our prints. The difficulty was trying to see things in the 2 tone perspective and determine which areas where more light or dark and if they worked well in a pattern. Then in the afternoon we went to a lecture on photography to see how it is used in the business world and followed up with a brief introduction to using the cameras and white boards to capture light.

Today (Saturday) I went to the art exhibition at Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery to see professional pieces of art and so I could see what techniques I can adapt into my own work.

Entry 1

This is my first blog post on my L3 Art & Design course and this is what I have done so far.
On our induction week, first day we worked as teams to design a ping pong ball container, both functional and aesthetically pleasing, in order to meet new people. For the second day we studied bird skulls to draw in various forms of media including pencil, charcoal and conte crayon.
On Friday we created 3D bird skull drawings using rolled up newspaper tubes which we created for homework and later did some ink drawings of the bird skulls. We also created a color wheel using found objects we collected from home over the week.

Yesterday we began our regular lesson schedules and began the day doing still life pencil drawings with Mark, before going to Jo in the afternoon to work on our 3D bird skulls. Today we started the day in textiles where we experimented with weaving on boards and in the afternoon, graphics where we created this blog.
